While Lohan was spotted outside Playboy mansion in late October, it was her mom Dina Lohan who revealed to the press that her daughter intended to pose for the men’s magazine.

“It will be tastefully done,” Dina Lohan squealed to The Insider. “She’s been working in front of the camera with Ford Models since she was a little girl so she kinda knows how to work that … She and Mr. Hefner will decide [on the cover]. She’ll pick five covers, and he’ll pick the one he wants.”

But Playboy head honcho Hugh Hefner was not completely satisfied with the original images. Lohan was brought in for a re-shoot with a “new theme.” In the end, Hefner was very pleased.

Hefner says he hopes that, like it was for actresses Drew Barrymore and Shannen Doherty, appearing in Playboy will be a turning point in Lohan rebuilding her career.

“One hopes that this will be a change in direction for her,” he said.

“It’s a classic tribute, inspired by the original Tom Kelley nude pictorial of Marilyn Monroe. [It's] classy, very classy,” Hefner explained. “It turned out very well. I would say that I had some reservations early on, but after a couple of false steps, everybody came on board and it’s going to be very exciting.”

Lohan was reportedly paid $1 million for stripping down for the magazine.

The January/February 2012 issue of Playboy will feature the full nude spread and will be available late December.
